Review of Yoga Hosers (2016) by Gregory C — 02 Sep 2016
I understand how and why anyone could dislike/hate this film. I can also understand how and why anyone could like/love this film. At worst, Yoga Hosers is a too goofy, too cartoony art film made by Kevin Smith FOR Kevin Smith.
It's a film that would have greatly benefited from a bigger budget/ better special effects, and it also puts the audience at risk of feeling like they missed something and are not in on the joke, especially if they don't know anything about Kevin Smith and his movies, and most especially if they don't listen to his podcasts.
However, at best, Yoga Hosers is an Art Film that is original, creative, unique, bold, personal, and made by a filmmaker who's allowed to realize his vision and share it with anyone who's curious or interested to see it.
That doesn't mean Yoga Hosers is a good movie nor does it mean it's a bad movie. However, Yoga Hosers is intentionally made to be the way it was made. And so, like all art, Yoga Hosers is subjective.
Bottom line: Don't let the critics and bad reviews scare you away from seeing this film. If you are curious about Yoga Hosers or interested in seeing Yoga Hosers, then definitely give it a chance and go see it.
Decide for yourself if you liked it/enjoyed it or not. I give Yoga Hosers a C+.
