Yes Man being formulaic is both its strength and weakness. While I do think Jim Carrey is funny in the movie, there are some good jokes, and there are things that work well, I do also think some of the jokes stick to the formula and Jim Carrey is basically doing the same thing he always does.
However, the nice ending and good characters do make up for some of its faults.
