Review of Yes Man (2008) by Liam C — 05 May 2014
Yes Man was a very good comedy with a great heart to it when it started it seemed to have a sort of similar concept to 'Liar Liar' and then I thought I knew how it'd play out, I was wrong but there are quite a lot of things that happen you can see coming a mile off.
The comedy works and Jim Carrey's great and there are other characters besides him in the story that get development and that's nice, it's nice to see in a movie that everyone besides the main character isn't just a cardboard character.
The film, while funny, seems inconsistent with the humor there's a point in the film where the drama takes over and therefore are less jokes but I guess it kind of makes sense in that regard? And to be fair there are little jokes here and there but the first half was the funniest, not like its a bad thing but its something to note.
There's a good message to be found in here and the lead romance actually felt real and they really clicked, good movie with a message, although, like Bruce Almighty, if this concept was slightly changed around it could have been something very scary.
You can't say no to anything? I smell horror movie!
