Review of Yes Man (2008) by Dee R — 28 Jul 2014
I watched this movie in a period where the theater started to disappoint me, but it was that little light in a dark and boring month. "Yes Man" is one of the few movies I was happy to pay 10 dollars for.
Well, "happy". It's still an expensive deal. No wonder people are downloading.
Anyway, "Yes Man" is one of those movies that depends on its actors, and Jim Carrey is doing a very good job keeping you interested. If you had, for example, Adam Sandler in the main lead, you'd have an entirely different movie.
The reason I'm mentioning Sandler is because the movie feels like an Adam Sandler movie, but whether that's a good thing or not is up to you. Personally, I don't dislike Adam Sandler movies. I loved "Anger Management".
"Yes Man" isn't trying to be clever, it's trying to be entertaining, and it worked for me. I consider it one of Jim Carrey's best works.
