Review of Year One (2009) by Brendan N — 10 Dec 2018
This is one of these interesting concepts that fails to deliver. Jack Black was an inspired choice, but they struggle to sustain a worth while story surrounding him. Cera is funny in support and offers a few of the laugh out loud moments of film.
The filmmakers struggle with the concept and the script is largely unfunny, only the actors salvage something. Harold Ramis never captured another classic like he did with Groundhog Day and was relegated to poor films like this.
It is a shame this didn't come together and feel like a Hollywood's attempt at the Life of Brian. I thought this might be a guilty pleasure, but sadly it is a bad film with no true reason for being.
