Review of Year of the Dragon (1985) by Daniel S — 16 Jul 2013
The whole subculture of a citys chinatown is very interesting I feel, the film chinatown somewhat broached it, but this really gets into the culture and how they operate, the best scenes in this are seeing how the chinese mafia does business, john lone is good as the new head of the mafia, while I love young mickey rourke, his story isnt anything that new, the relationship drama scenes are weak, but him dealing with the mafia and the police dept is good, the film isnt afraid to go to some dark areas, and the story moves fast and is engrossing, however the final scene was pretty weak imo, overall its very good, and shows what michael cimino couldve been if he didnt go crazy.
