Review of Year of the Dog (2007) by Joe L — 20 Nov 2008
Definitely not the film it was marketed as: a quirky romantic comedy, perhaps along the lines of 'you and me and everyone we know,' I was astonished at the dark places it ended up going. it's film about finding yourself - as hard as that may be, and despite everyone around you (even the audience) believing that you are crazy.
it ultimately left me feeling uneasy - because we root for this character to finally pull herself together, and the film's final answer is tough to sit with - like getting a break-up letter from someone you wanted to like, but it just can't work out.
