Review of Year of the Dog (2007) by Stacy C — 14 Apr 2009
I think to watch this movie you need to almost ignore what is actually happening at times and focus on the big picture. In some instances you would say the main character (Peggy) is crazy and overreacting, but if you actually think about it you understand her and empathize with her. It's a really creative way to write a story, I think.
I loved this because it's so true. The way Peggy acts in her every day, normal life is how so many people live. Just being sweet, quiet, innocent, and everyone's friend. And then as soon as she figured out who she really was and found the passion for something that truly changed her entire life everyone saw her as crazy. I think everyone has experienced people's judgments or people not fully understanding why you love what you love, but she makes it known that it's ok. It's ok to not be understood and to love something that not everyone would normally love or view as important.
It's a beautiful story and has a even more beautiful message. If you watch it, watch it with an open mind.
