Review of Yankee Doodle Dandy (1942) by Alyssa A — 26 Sep 2007
Stunning musical about the life of vaudeville song and dance man George M. Cohan. Cagney is brilliant in an Oscar winning role as the exciting performer. There is a patroitism at every turn in this picture and it's a sight to see.
Another great sight is Cagney's masterful abilities as a dancer. Michael Curtiz directs Cagney and a supporting cast that features Joan Leslie and Walter Huston. Made into the Broadway musical "George M," in the late 1960's that starred Joel Grey.
