Review of Y Tu Mamá También (2001) by Rose G — 25 May 2009
There's a thin line between soft-porn and artistic film-making and this movie may just be a cross between the two. Bestfriends Julio and Tenoch goes to a road trip across Mexico, inviting with them the recently heart-broken Luisa. Along this trip, the three protagonists share more than ride through the hot Mexican countryside, but also some secrets, some funny and some better left unsaid, which changed their lives, probably for the worse.
I thought the movie was a bit too racy for my taste. It took me a while to appreciate the message it wanted to impart, the same way I thought Gael Garcia Bernal and Diego Luna moved up the hunk meter since this movie was released.
