Review of Y Tu Mamá También (2001) by Byron B — 02 Jul 2008
Attractive, but not much else. There doesn't seem to be that much behind the obvious charm of youthful decadence and a nostalgic look at Mexican life. Enjoyable, with interesting characters and good performances, but leaves the audience wanting a bit more.
The frequent voice overs bring to mind Jules and Jim, which is a clear influence, as the original menage a trois, yet the comparison unfortunately does not reflect in this film's favour. A shell of a movie.
