Review of Y Tu Mamá También (2001) by Carlos P — 18 Nov 2009
NO! It's not a teenage sex road-trip movie! And whoever saw it for that reason is bound to be completely dissapointed. lol The meat of the plot is that nothing really changed, 'cept perception. There were no real repercussions to their actions, except the ones they allowed in their brains.
It's about the young spirit; and how it both, wants to experiment but at the same time, it NEEDS to stay in it's comfort zone. To do that, Cuarón shows the raw-ness of their juxtaposed environment and their sex-driven nature, but it's not really about the sex, but about the relationships the main characters share, 'cept they don't talk for hours therapist-style, they just act on it; but it's this lack of communication that rips them apart when something un-syncs their interaction.
