Review of XX/XY (2002) by Tess & — 15 Jan 2007
A well-made and brilliantly acted film - so it's a real shame that it's actually completely pointless. Why does Mark Ruffalo insist on choosing films with characters that just don't behave like normal people? The whole hedonistic lifestyle thing has been done much better by many other films - there's no depth to the characters or any exploration of why they behave the way they do.
By the time you get to the (much more watchable) second half of the film, you really don't care about these shallow, annoying people.
