Review of X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014) by Cineman P — 13 Mar 2015
The best 'X-Men' movie since 'X2: X-Men United' (2003), the movie is full of great action, great characters and a great story. The best scene without a doubt is that Quicksilver scene. Hugh Jackman is better than ever as Wolverine, James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender are still great as Professor X and Magneto, Jennifer Lawrence kills it as Mystique...but the one that got it for me, again, is Evan Peters who smashed it as Quicksilver.
Peter Dinklage is great as the menacing Bollivar Trask who created the Sentinels that attempt to wipe out mutants. Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen prove that old age doesn't deteriorate talent, they still are as great in their respective roles as the older Professor X and Magneto.
'X-Men: Days of Future Past' is one of the best summer blockbusters of 2014, it may be overcrowded with so many mutants and often jumps back and fourth between the past and the future. But all of this doesn't feel muddled like the atrocious 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' (2014), it still feels clean and is still coherent. Bryan Singer may be accused of sexual assault, but you can't deny that he can direct an action movie better than Michael Bay.
Fun movie, good time, highly satisfied.
