Review of X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014) by Tyler W — 07 Apr 2016
This film definitely ranks among the best of the X-Men franchise. Bryan Singer is wonderful at capturing the heart and soul that drives the franchise's thought provoking themes. This movie ultimately is all about hope and always knowing that your future is never set in stone.
I find that incredibly deep for a message in a comic book movie. As far as the action is concerned, there is enough here, but I guess I would've liked a bit more. I'd say the payoff of all the action in the third act makes the movie worth watching nonetheless.
The characters are all portrayed wonderfully and are easily people you can care for and feel for. Singer needs to really focus on making X-Men movies more, because thats where his true calling is as a director and man it shows here.
If you've enjoyed at least half of the franchise than this will definitely rank among your top 3 X-men movies for sure. For me personally, I liked "First Class" significantly more and that still remains my favorite in the series.
Excluding some expository issues, this film really is a blast if you've kept track of all the complications the franchise has had. I recommend it to any fans and do believe its one of the best movies I've seen in 2014 (so far).
