Review of X-Men: Apocalypse (2016) by Sam G — 07 Mar 2017
Just one big mess. Squandered potential in all areas. Wasted potential with what was in the film. Underutilised characters from Apocalypse to Quicksilver, from the Horsemen to most of the X-Men.
An infuriating film that showed glimpse of what could have been, not just in this film, but the whole X-Men film series in general. Instead we have reboots, retcons, prequels, pointless stories that don't further anything for the characters or film series.
There are one or two good moments, but they are almost lost in the bland boringness and repeating of mistakes that supposedly have been wiped away because of Days of Future Past.
One of the greatest comic book villains of all time reduced to this shambolic, Ivan Ooze lookalike.
And that is how Professor X looses his hair...colour me underwhelmed.
