Review of X-Men: Apocalypse (2016) by Ahadghani — 26 May 2016
The critics really do annoy me. They're way too harsh and uptight when it comes to such films that actually end up making the real money. Rather than bashing every aspect of the movie, maybe try to sit back enjoy it because, for me, X-men: Apocalypse was a thoroughly enjoyable movie.
In fact this is a much better film than both the Avengers. Sure, Days of Future Past is still the best in the series but this is a worthy opponent. The cast is stellar. We're finally introduced to Jean, Cyclops and Storm who are just as great as the rest of the cast.
Quicksilver is definitely a scene-stealer and Apocalypse is a fairly worthy villain. I couldn't agree more with New York Magazine - "The overflowing ensemble nature of the enterprise is the whole point".
Even if you find the plot relatively generic, the cast is what makes X-men truly X-men proving X-men: Apocalypse as yet another strong entry in the long-running series.
