Review of X-Men: Apocalypse (2016) by Santiago R — 10 Aug 2016
Bryan Singer is a hack, too many characters with no depth, lots of situations that don't make logical sense, failed attempts at humour and other B-level one liners .
Apocalypse should have been one of the most menacing and intelligent villains in film to date. His portrayal was cliche stupid villain and the 4 horsemen were shoehorned into the background. The random Weapon X tangent had no purpose in this film. Why is Quicksilver overpowered and Magneto so one dimensional? At least J-Law didn't hijack this movie as much as the trailers led to believe.
Just another dumb CGI filled superhero flick to save the world. The only redeeming factor is how the movie insults itself with the return of the jedi comparison of 3rd movies being lacklustre.
Once again X-Men have hit the bottom of the barrel in the pile of endless crappy superhero films. Matthew Vaughan was the reason the last 2 films were successful. It's better than X-3 but that still isn't saying much.
