Review of Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead (2014) by Muhammed S — 01 Mar 2015
Thanks to The Walking Dead the zombie genre is more popular than ever these days. Unfortunately that means countless shitty zombie movies are flooding the market looking to cash in. Thankfully the Australian import Wyrmwood isn't one of them.
In fact this flick owes a lot more to Peter Jackson's splatterfest Dead Alive and Mad Max than the works of George Romero. Despite the low budget, there's plenty of inventive camera work, gore, action, energy, and some impressive story twists I've actually never seen in the genre before.
The entire thing is over-the-top and has a sharp sense of humour, but also manages to be quite dramatic and surprising. Zombie fans who are tired of the same old stuff will definitely want to check this one out.
