Review of Wuthering Heights (1992) by Laura M — 02 Aug 2009
So dark, so unfortunate, so sweeping. One complaint was Ralph Feinnes was so thoroughly unlikeable that I had trouble remembering it was his mourning for Catherine that triggered his seemingly never-ending forms of abuse.
This problem could rest more in the screenplay than anything else, however. All in all, sure, it was good. I doubt it discovered anything new from the many many many film versions of this classic novel.
. but it certainly did justice to what I read during my Bronte blitz many years ago.
