Review of Written on the Wind (1956) by Dominic G — 12 Dec 2007
Finally sat my ass down in front of a Sirk picture. Fucking brilliant.
Melodramatic, moody, over-the-top: resplendent.
From getting to see Bob Stack drunk and raving to wondering for the zillionth time if Lauren Bacall was born with a penis, I loved every minute of it. Yeah, the end's kind of abrupt and cheery, but that opening. I had a total cinephile hard-on the whole time.
Oh.
Dorothy Malone?
Yeah. WOW.
