Review of Written on the Wind (1956) by Frédéric I — 22 Mar 2010
My favorite of sirks films. its got the same lush, technicolor, beauty as many of his other films. although I still cant help but hate rock hudson, even in a film as good as this. its extreme melodrama and some parts get pretty silly.
but despite that, the irony that lofts the plot is perfectly played and robert stack, dorothy malone, robert kieth, and the luminous lauren bacall are all in top form. a great piece of americana.
