Review of Wristcutters: A Love Story (2007) by Jack P — 21 Jan 2012
You've seen it a million times; the typical boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy-gets-into-a-car-to-find-girl-romantic-comedy. Though that story has been told in many ways, Wristcutters adds a new indie spin with a very specific twist that takes the viewer into a different world.
At times the film seems like just another road trip story and the ending is solved needing a little too much suspension of disbelief. Several pleasant indie cameos appear, and most of the film is scored with a catchy song by the gypsy punk rockers "Gogol Bordello".
Overall an interesting story told in a fresh way, though it lacks the certain push to move the film onto my list of classic indie flicks.
