Review of Wreck-It Ralph (2012) by Alec B — 08 Oct 2013
Wreck-it Ralph is a movie I would recommend to people who enjoy family fun movies and its CG is very good. For a video-game themed movie I was curious to check it out.Being a gamer I enjoyed all the video game references.
new and old, that were put into the film. The story is not amazing but it is pretty good, well made and even throws some twists into the mix. I had mixed opinions on the humor though since most of it is pretty juvenile, but I have to remind myself this is suppose to be a kids movie.
John C. Reilly as Ralph plays a great role and really fits his character as the villain who wants to break away from his role and become the hero everyone adores. What I did not like about this movie however was the lack of video game world that we got to see.
There were only 3 major worlds the story stayed in, Fix-It Felix, Hero's Duty, and Sugar Rush. With all the kinds of video games that are out there, they could have put so much more variety into the environments, it a wasted opportunity since for the majority of the film they stayed in the video game version of Candy Land.
Overall,I personally liked this movie despite the kid focused tone. Kids should definitely like the movie, and gamers will enjoy it but won't go crazy over it.
