Review of Wreck-It Ralph (2012) by Jules H — 05 Aug 2014
There is little to despise about this video game based fare. It boosts the top notch CGI that made Pixar a household name, contains the awesome writing that 20th century Disney is well known for, has the types of clever spoofing of Dreamworks and the charming, smart aleky, characterization of Bug's Bunny. It is a movie with a dual purpose: Teaching you to be accepting of yourself even if you are a smelly video game baddie or glitch too much and playing to the nostalgia of old school gamers.
Now, it's not perfect. The lack of coverage towards the awesome video game world bought to life here leaves questions unanswered and the cynical nature of the film is contrasted by the amount of heart that went into the Toy Story series.
With that said, it is no wonder what makes it so desirable. First Tron, then Scott Pilgrim and now Wreck-it Ralph. Video game films just don't get any better than this.
