Kind of weird to watch in the lieu of his suicide, World's Greatest Dad is nevertheless one of Robin Williams' strongest latter day roles. Williams, perhaps for the last time, showed again how fine a dramatic actor he was by making his character's pain and personal turmoil feel so grounded and real.

The rest of the film, unfortunately, is largely an unfocused letdown. The directing is uneven and particularly rough in the first act and the ending pretty weak, while the satire isn't as refined or hard-hitting as it thinks it's being, instead relying on many cheap exaggerations.

But it does bring up some interesting points on how we as a society often immortalize the dead, and is now itself likely to be remembered as an ominous capper on a brilliant talent.
