Review of Woodstock (1970) by Jennifer A — 25 Jul 2009
Woodstock (1970) - 7.9/10.
Director - Michael Wadleigh.
Most concert films bore me to tears and I love live music. I think my problem with most concert films is they usually fail to capture the atmosphere of the show and instead rely too heavily on the actual performance. "Woodstock" manages to successfuly incorporate both. It's widely considered to be the most important concert ever, and Wadleigh was smart enough to capture the mood of the moment. Yes the music is mostly good, but anyone like myself who wasn't a part of this generation needs a document that helps explain the phenomenon. This film does just that.
