Review of Won't You Be My Neighbor? (2018) by Ranny L — 10 Jun 2018
Now we're talking. This was the one documentary I've been clamoring for for years. Fred Rogers has always been a personal hero of mine -- this movie does him justice. I've always modeled myself after Mr.
Rogers. His message of kindness and love always resonated with me. I loved it! I left the theater smiling ear-to-ear, with tears in my eyes and joy in my heart. It makes me wonder what he was like behind closed doors, because no middle-aged white man in the 60's was that much of a saint.
.. I'm convinced he was a heavy drinker, or he cooked gerbils in his microwave or something. It's best that we don't find that out, though... it's better to live in denial than have your fantasy ruined.
