Review of Won't You Be My Neighbor? (2018) by Movie M — 10 Jul 2018
Reveiwed 7.6.18 A pleasant, albeit glossy, peak into the spirit and message of a man as 'special' as the children he made sure to feel the same. Fred Rogers is well deserving of such introspective examination.
His version of masculinity represents a new type of man that is yet to be imitated, let alone duplicated. It simply can't be faked, and no other television personality has ever possessed his particular skill set.
An innate ability to connect with children via empathy, patience, spirituality, purpose, loyalty and most of all a never-ending supply of love. As he said best: 'Love is at the root of everything.
All learning. All relationships. Love, or the lack of it.' Perhaps wiser words have never been spoken.
