I'm a huge sucker for paint-by-numbers movies about inspiring teachers at crappy inner city schools, but with this one it's like they left the caps off the paint and set them out to get hard and crusty.
Maggie Gyllenhaal looks crazed throughout the whole movie, I wasn't sure if Viola Davis was awake for half of her scenes, and the great Rosie Perez was totally wasted in her puny role.
