Review of Wonder (2017) by Jungmo L — 26 Aug 2018
Overall, I enjoyed it quite a bit. It gave me a different joy and excitement, and it taught me that everyone in the world is special. The movie was also very smooth. The movie proceeds not just to point of Augi, but to point of surrounding people like Olivia, Jack and Miranda.
But because it was a common element of the movie, Augi, it didn't feel very complicated. But there are definitely disadvantages. First scene was forced to insert into movie to impress. One of them was when Augi and his friends went to field trip, they fought bullies.
When I first saw the scene, I felt very embarrassed and disconnected from the movie. Second, there was a slight lack of probability. I felt a little childish about what Augi went through at school, if not because I hadn't actually experienced it.
Furthermore, in the latter part of the movie, there is a scene where Augi's father gives a gift to his wife. But later, there is no explanation what the gift was. Besides this, I felt awkward when Miranda and Olivia suddenly became close to each other after the play.
But it was enough to impress. It was a touching movie that taught me that if we change our eyes, the world could warm up.
