Review of Wonder (2017) by Joanne O — 28 Nov 2018
Wonder is a touching movie, with some excellent child actors. The non-linear narrative is very well employed and getting several points of view is a great way of understanding the different characters motivations and actions.
A very typical flaw of the movie is, that the family is very idealistic and therewith quite unrealistic. In a situation like theirs, it is important to have sufficient funds for medical procedures. It is never explained why the family is so wealthy, despite the mother being unemployed and the father seemingly having a lot of time to spare for the children. The story itself does not suffer from that, but unfortunately, it makes the film a lot less credible and relatable.
