Review of Woman in Gold (2015) by Sarah A — 10 Apr 2015
Casting Reynolds as a bumbling legal hermit may not be historically accurate, but he acts passionately in this role and plays well opposite Mirren as they both come to grips with the long lasting toll of nazi germany on the world and their own family histories.
The tale is heartwarming, sad, and all of it ultimately true - but that's the best part of the film: when you're reminded that these were real lives affected by truly war-torn lands and prejudiced national governments, and that remembering and preserving history is some of the most important work we can do for the world.
A must-see!
