Review of Woman in Gold (2015) by Jim G — 16 Aug 2015
What is construed as disappointingly slow is a necessary part of this film. To compress a story over ten years, particularly with the legal arguments involved, one has to move carefully to make sure the details care there.
The flashbacks might seem long but are absolutely necessary. I am sure that there are many who have experienced the denial by many Austrians of their complicity with the Nazis. Also the reviewer must be thinking of many blockbusters like Saving Private Ryan - long on action but very short on veracity!
