The best surprise was the casting of Tatiana Maslany, star of BBC America's Orphan Black, in the role of the younger Maria Altman. As always, Helen Mirren is brilliant but a maturing Ryan Reynolds is able to keep pace with his leading lady.
This film lived up to the great reviews.
