Review of Wolf Creek (2005) by Kris W — 07 Apr 2011
To describe this movie in one word, letdown. It took this film fifty minutes to really get the audience (myself) involved, and even then it was still painfully slow. The suspense was not worth the wait.
I was really expecting a Chainsaw Massacre type of film, but instead found myself growing tired of watching the film. The acting was a bit boring. I wasn't taken by any of them, and found John Jarratt's character "Mick" to be rather funny as opposed to being a creepy demented character.
However, the cinematography was beautiful and shot very well, and the fact that this is based off of true events gets points as well. Although, I do believe this film maker could have told this story in a more productive way which would actually move the audience, and move the film rather then put us to sleep through bullshit, pointless fucking scenes.
If I may Greg Mclean, focus more on the characters and their involvement with one another. It is possible to make a decent horror film with audible dialogue.
