Even though this film is based on a true story, it felt like a bad attempt at â??Texas Chainsaw Massacreâ?? in Australia. The Difference is instead of a bohemeth that doesnâ??t talk and grunts who feds his prey to his cannibalistic family. The killer is a man who appears normal. He could even be your rustic grandfather he has no accomplices itâ??s just him working alone.

I should have known better when I went to see this movie the usher warned me a lot of people had walked out and asked for there money back. While I had a short fantasy of it being that gruesome I figured they had come for that type of movie and I doubted it was that extreme though releasing it towards the holidays was a odd move. So I decided to go see â??The Family Stoneâ?? instead. I just waited for this to come out on DVD to watch it.

Now as I said before I thought maybe people walked out because it was so gruesome but after watching it I can see why. I am for natural lighting but this film was so dark it was hard to see what was gong on half the time.

The killer seems to take pleasure trying new tools and seeing how far he can push the torture on his victims. Since there is only one survivor and it is a male. (trust me by ruining it I am saving you the agony of watching it) This film could join the racks of the torture porn section since it seems to want to be repulsive ad takes joy in the suffering of the female characters. Again it is based on a true story so maybe it really happened that way but still it seems exploitive.

The only thing I liked was the portrayal of the killer by John Jarett. I only wish he had a better movie to showcase the performance in, They should moe his character to a new environment or at least have a filmmaker whose vision is as strong as the performance. Maybe make a straight to video sequel and get a new filmmaker for the further adventures of this character.

Skip it.
