Review of Wolf Creek (2005) by Graeme B — 18 Jun 2009
The opening scene is terrible; it proved very hard not to turn it off. However a few visual reminders of Oz (beer mainly - Coopers! and Crown stubbies) kept me watching. I'm glad I did.
It's a low budget movie, it's Australian and a bit cheesy but entertaining. It is NOT a true story, but is based on similar events.
Mick (Jarratt) is great, almost too likable at times.
It's worth a watch but don't expect too much. The ending is perplexing, Kalbarri seems too far a destination from Wolfe Creek, despite mentions of a long journey.
Lessons learned...
1. Backpackers are bloody idiots.
2. A two week stay in Broome would feel like two years (Broome sucks).
3. Horror movies suck.
4. Don't watch this again.
Oz is a fantastic place; don't watch this movie go to Oz instead ;-).
