Review of Wolf Creek 2 (2013) by Lisa D — 02 Oct 2014
John Jarratt is back as the folksy outback serial killer, Mick Taylor, in this quality sequel to "Wolf Creek." The original film came out right about the same time as "Hostel" and was compared, both favorably and unfavorably, when torture porn was hot several years ago and numerous "Saw" sequels later.
This sequel wisely doesn't try to simply rehash torture porn tropes and instead goes down the path of "Hatchet" and instead crafted a rather fun though grizzly sequel that has Mick running afoul German tourists and other assorted "foreigners" along the outback roads of Australia.
Mick is now a colorful killer along the lines of Freddy Kreuger where the audience is meant to laugh at his wisecracks and actually make him somewhat the protagonist of the film. This film is certainly not meant for everyone, but fans of grizzly horror flicks laced with black humor, this is one you shouldn't miss.
