Review of Wolf Creek 2 (2013) by David S — 09 Feb 2015
A movie is only as good as the villain, and in Wolf Creek 2, a premise that builds off the horrors of the Australian outback and what lies beneath, has just that; the perfect villain. Building off the star of the first film, John Jarratt hones in on the Mick Taylor character, creating a grumbling laugh that is horrifying to hear, dooming each scene to suspenseful dread.
Mick Taylor is the Australian Freddy Krueger, or Michael Myers. Surprisingly, this sequel eliminated some of the faults of the original, and built off the strengths, creating an improved experience. Greg McLean has proven that some directors can in fact, learn from their mistakes.
It is not a perfect movie, far from it, but it holds its worth.
