Review of Wog Boy 2: The Kings of Mykonos (2010) by C.j. H — 20 Jun 2010
It seems that the only way an Australian movie can be a box office success is if it is crap (excuse the language but it is the only suitable word for this movie). Australian movies with better quality seem to be ignored (possibly a symptom of too much "reality" television shows).
What suffers the most is the script by Nick Giannopoulos and Chris Anastassiades. If this movie is a comedy where is the laughs. Most of the time it is as funny as long-winded acceptance speech that ends with a lame poem. Not only is the script not funny it contains weak characters. Most of the supporting cast seem to be there only as eye-candy. Performances are pedestrian at best. Most of the cast are just too lazy to give some decent acting.
So what does director Peter Andrikidis do to try to make this movie entertaining? He relies on the social scenes. The movie attempts to compensate its weaknesses with several parties. People who watch many movies will be able to see right through this.
Who will enjoy this nonsense? People who do not watch many movies; people who watch too many reality television shows, and extreme extroverts who treat introverts like criminals. If you are not one of those people please avoid this.
