Review of Wog Boy 2: The Kings of Mykonos (2010) by Linda S — 03 Oct 2010
It's an Aussie film, I am Aussie, could I possibly Deny it? well yes I could, I could have not watched it and not care about it, but it was a slow week at the DVD store so I thought what the hell, why not?
The Story follows the same two character from the First installment, Steve And Frank. Now not a lot is explained about the ending of the original which seemed to wrap it up nicely, Franky ended up married and Steve was back with the girl he "loved". But the movie starts off with franky getting thrown out of a house and his stuff being thrown everywhere. Steve asks, maybe not in these words" I thought you were seeing a marriage councilor?" and Franky explains"That Was the Marriage Councilor!".
So that is all you here about Franky and his Marriage, nothing I believe is explained about Steve's misfortunes or maybe I wasn't paying attention, or maybe I was making a sandwich, who knows. ah well, back to the film, Steve finds out his Dad is not really his dad but his real dad is someone in Mykonos, and he is of course rich, very rich. So Steve and Franky head over there straight away. then of course some predictable twists, predictable story telling, etc etc and a run time far too long then that's the movie, I am a little disappointed at the lack of any real story, or an understandable, well written one.
A lot of the material is pretty cheesy, and really annoying, but that is too be expected I guess, and I will probably never re watch this movie, so why does it get a 40% then? well simply put, I like Franky, his character is pretty funny plus he was awesome in Underbelly(By the way, if you can get this excellent Australian TV Series wherever you live, do it, it's a story of the mobs based in Australia, Ratings for each season, Underbelly 1: 100%, Underbelly 2: 60%, Underbelly 3: 80%).
So thats it, Run time too long, basic story, basic character development, some funny one liners every now and again. but nothing special, I probably wouldn't recommend this, at all.
