Review of Witness (1985) by Jay L — 26 Mar 2012
"The boy is a material Witness.".
An exceptional romantic action thriller from Director Peter Weir. Yet again, Weir shows that his keen eye and attention to detail make for spectacular tension and suspenseful entertainment. A gem from the mid 80's that's got plenty of action and romance as well as scorching originality. A top-notch thriller that doesn't disappoint one bit, Peter Weir and company crafted a marvelous enjoyment. Pulse-pounding, adrenaline-inducing, electrifying and ultra-charged dramatic action at its most intense. Witness is packed with nail-biting suspense, gripping storytelling, a magnificent story, breathtaking romance and plenty of action to go around. An interesting and compelling look inside of the Amish lifestyle, a film that dives head-first into the American stereotype of the typical Mennonite family. One of Weir's best. Highly recommended.
Harrison Ford turns in a brilliant performance, its without a doubt one of his most convincing acts. Kelly McGillis is brilliant as well in a strong performace. Danny Glover and Josef Sommer are great throughout.
