Review of Withnail & I (1987) by Lanhua Y — 06 Feb 2009
This remains unbeatable; the best British film of the last 25 years. It is good because it has a dark and biting humour but a real pathos. A marvellous script and a set of characters that are powerful enough to exist on their own, but in then end are ultimately trapped in the dog end of the 1960's.
