Review of Winter's Bone (2010) by Aaron J — 17 Jan 2012
Really liked this one. A 17-year old girl is caretaker for her invalid mother, and her two siblings, ages 12 and 6. Dad cooks meth, and has presumably skiipped bond. He put the family house and property up to secure the bond, and if he's not found, the family will lose everything.
The young woman then decides she will find her father, against the advice of her kin & clan, and she enters her own personal Heart Of Darkness. Fine film. The potential for violence permeates the film, but this is no exploitation piece.
