A dense, depressing film. it was well-made, and jennifer lawerence was great in her role. definitely heartbreaking to think that people with similar situations actually live in the world. I was particularly impressed with the way the film established it's world.
though it does beg the question, ultimately, of what the viewer walks away with - in the end it had a negative impact, and maybe that was the filmmaker's intention, but i'm more a fan of films that give viewers an chance for catharsis.
