Review of Winter's Bone (2010) by Caz H — 01 Mar 2015
I had heard a lot about Jennifer Lawrence's performance in this film and it is outstanding. There are other great performances as well, it's painfully and sparsely written and beautifully shot.
It strikes a balance between being both brutal and hopeful that mostly worked: I did find it very bleak at times, perhaps too much so, but it's certainly a stellar film.
