Review of Winter's Bone (2010) by David S — 18 May 2015
Mesmerizing from start to finish, Winter's Bone takes us on a journey into the dark heart of rural Appalachia through the eyes of Ree Dolly, a precocious teen forced to take on an almost odyssean quest to save her two younger siblings and witless mother from losing their home.
She is confronted by increasingly more dangerous antagonists as she gets closer to learning the truth about her father's death; she faces each life threatening situation with a fearlessness only only matches by the scene stealing John Hawkes as her uncle Teardrop.
The writing, direction, and acting are all superb; don't miss this fantastic film!
