Review of Winter's Bone (2010) by Adam B — 13 Nov 2016
A challenging but thoroughly worth while piece of cinema that won't be for everyone, but for those who do invest, it offers more than enough in return. Much of the plaudits must go to Jennifer Lawrence who gives a fantastic performances, and really holds everything together and makes you engage and care about what's happening on screen.
It feels a truly American movie, in the best sense of the term, and the story it tells is something you rarely get a glimpse into, and it perfectly taps into the mood of almost tragedy surrounding some aspects of American life in these parts of the country.
It had me interested the whole way through, and genuinely caring about what was going to happen, and for any film to do that, it must be doing something right.
