Winter Sleep offers some of the complexity and grandeur of a Russian novel, and a dramatic intensity that very few films ever attempt.
It's a long 'un, and there's precious little action. But nothing is wasted in this gorgeous Chekhovian examination of conscience, morality and society.
The acting and direction is breathtaking, all round. So go and see it- we could talk about this one for months, and then some.
